Questions
What patients and dentists ask
If yours isn't here, call the office you are nearest.
Do I need a referral?
Most patients come on one. If you don't have one, call us and we will talk it through. We ask for your dentist's name so we can send a report.
Do you take my insurance?
We are in network with some plans and out of network with others. The fees page lists the plan types and how to find out where yours stands. Our referral coordinator checks your plan's benefit before your first visit.
What if I don't have insurance?
You pay for the visit and treatment you receive, and you know the fee before we start. We give a written estimate in advance, and financing is offered by third-party lenders whose approval and terms are set by the lender.
Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?
The fees page says where the practice stands on Medicaid and CHIP. Call and we will explain what your plan does cover.
Will it hurt?
The tooth is numbed before work begins, and Dr. Ahn checks that it is working. You can ask her to stop at any point. Some soreness afterward is common.
How long is a visit, and how many will I need?
Plan on about an hour for the first visit. Many root canals take one or two visits, and Dr. Ahn tells you what she expects for your tooth.
Will I need X-rays?
Dr. Ahn decides which images she needs and uses the ones your dentist sends where she can.
What is a root canal?
Cleaning and sealing the inside of a tooth whose nerve is inflamed or infected. The tooth then goes back to your dentist for a crown or filling.
Do you see children?
Your child's own dentist decides whether to refer, and we talk it through with a parent before a visit. A parent stays with a child at every visit.
What counts as an emergency?
Swelling that spreads to your face, eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, or bleeding that won't stop means an emergency room or 911. A broken or knocked-out tooth, or severe pain, means calling us right away.
Do you use sedation?
We use local numbing for the tooth. We don't give IV or general sedation in our offices. If you need more than numbing to get through a visit, call us first and we will talk about it with your dentist.
Can I get a written estimate before treatment?
Yes. Ask when you book or at any time, and we will write it out before any work begins.
How do I change or cancel a visit?
Call the office you booked. We ask for notice so we can offer the time to another patient.
Still have a question?
